Micromax has launched a series of impressive smartphones under its online only venture called YU. The sub-brand already has a couple of impressive smartphones under its kitty viz. YU Yureka and YU Yuphoria. YU Yureka was the first ever device to launched by the brand under INR 8,000 and Yuphoria was placed in the range of INR 6,000 to win over the price conscious buyers of India. Now the handset manufacturer has gone ahead and launched a Plus variant of the YU Yureka in India. Interestingly, the plus variant of the handset is also attractively priced under INR 10,000 and is still a budget segment device and is expected to sell well in the Indian market.
When it comes to the design of the handset, the Yureka Plus comes with the same design as that of the Yureka. The new handset will also be offered in Alabastar White colour besides the usual black, which is quite easy on the eyes. Besides that the front of the device is dominated by the display and capacitive buttons with trademark circular home button. The back panel of the handset is removable and is made of polycarbonate.
This is where the YU Yureka Plus has received a bump over the actual YU Yureka smartphone. While the original handset sported an HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, the newest handset from the brand comes with full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. With this bump in the display resolution, YU Yureka Plus has become the second handset under INR 10,000 to offer full HD resolution after Lenovo K3 Note. Moreover, the handset display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer for additional protection.
The user experience of YU Yureka Plus is second to none as it is the only brand to offer famed Cyanogenmod operating system out of the box. For the uninitiated, the CM 12 OS is based on Android lollipop that offers stock Android experience along with a number of performance and customisation option to its users. Since there is no bloatware in the operating system unlike other manufacturers, thus resulting in a blazing fast performance.
Performance and Battery Life
Just like Yureka, the Yureka Plus also comes powered by a Snapdragon 615 64-bit Octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. The handset manufacturer has coupled the processor with 2 GB of RAM and the resultant performance is as smooth as it was in the original device. It comes powered by the same 2500 mAh battery and offers a good backup on a full charge.
YU had emphasised more upon the camera sensors of the device when it launched the Yureka and results were indeed impressive. The Yureka Plus smartphone comes with same cameras and sensors, which means that imaging is quite impressive in the new device as well. The rear panel of the handset house a good 13 Megapixel camera that is good enough to be your go to camera. While on the front, the handset sports a 5 Megapixel snapper.
One of the reasons why YU decided to launch Yureka Plus was to offer another full HD mobile under INR 10,000 besides Lenovo K3 Note. Quite obviously, Lenovo K3 Note is one of the main contenders of the newly launched device and boasts of similar design as well as specifications. The InFocus M330 is another handset recently launched in the Indian handset market that offers good specifications, however, misses out on the display resolution.
The YU Yureka Plus is a great value for money handset at this price point considering the features that it comes with. This handset comes with full HD display resolution, powerful Octa-core processor, 4G LTE support and Android Lollipop operating system out of the box. If you are looking for a good handset with power packed performance without spending a bomb, this handset is the right choice for you.
