Oppo R1 is one of the high-end smartphones from the Chinese mobile maker. It does not sound like a bad deal when it comes to purchase decision, but for the bucks that it charges, it is not that great a deal to go for either. It boasts of average specs, is not future proof and in front of its competitors, it finds the going hard for itself.
The Oppo R1 features a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with a paltry 1GB RAM. It can handle two SIM cards at once and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Color OS. There is no word as to whether there will be Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade available or not. There is measely 16GB of internal storage available on the phone and it cannot be expanded any further. There is a 5-inch touchscreen available on the phone with 720x1280 pixels display resolution. An 8-megapixel camera at the back and a 5-megapixel front camera have been provided by Oppo to R1. The phone comes with a battery of 2410mAh capacity but there no battery life rating available as of now.
While the phone may seem to be providing more than what many of its competitors do at this price point, you still need to remember that it charges you a lot of bucks for specs which are not exactly dramatic. Motorola's Moto G may not be able to provide some of the specs, but you need to remember that it does not charge such a lofty amount for the kind of package that is on offer. Go for it, if you must. However, there are better phones than the R1 in the market for a lot less.
